Black Line Stables is proud and excited to announce the arrival of Playboys Hotrod, an award winning cutting horse who is an own son of Freckles Playboy! Hotrod is a 1992 sorrel stallion with an exceptional pedigree, impressive credentials and an excellent disposition. You don’t have to look far to see that Hotrod comes from royalty. His great-grand sires are: Sugar Bars, Rey Jay, Doc Bar, and King Billy (an own son of King P-234). All four of these legends are right on his papers! Award-winning performance runs in the family, Hotrod is a 3/4 brother to Colonel Hotrod and a 1/2 brother to Hard To Get Playboy. Hotrod will not only be fathering foals for us at BLS, but will also be standing stud for a limited number of outside mares. Welcome to Black Line Stables, home of gentle, Registered American Quarter Horses with exceptional breeding, color, conformation, and disposition. Our breeding program is designed to continue improving upon the fantastic groundwork of two legendary South Dakota American Quarter Horse breeding programs: Holmes’ Quarter Horses of Plankinton South Dakota and Barrett’s Circle B Ranch of Watertown South Dakota. Together, these two breeders have over 98 years of American Quarter Horse breeding experience. The owners of both programs decided they needed to slow down in 2008, so they reluctantly sold most of their breeding stock. Black Line Stables was fortunate enough to acquire a number of their best breeding mares. Our goal is to take up where they left off and maximize the potential of their hard work.
